First Responders, operating in remote areas, or locations without cellular coverage, are vulnerable when they step outside the range of wi-fi coverage from their vehicle. The vehicle has satellite, cellular and P-25 connectivity, but the lack of “last mile” connectivity between the vehicle and the First Responder is the challenge of most concern, according to Fire & Rescue NSW.
Fire Fighters, Paramedics and Police operating in tunnels or basements are often left without comms because of the harsh RF environments.
Sovereign Systems/ACE6 mMesh provides that vital last mile connectivity, even in extremely challenging environments. Our new PTT mMesh IP radio delivers IP Mesh connectivity in a truly hand-held form factor, with incredible NLOS penetration, and PTT voice connectivity, via the connected vehicle, to the core at Command & Control.
The Wi-Fi access point, standard on all our IP Mesh radios, allows the First Responder mobile apps to continue operating without local network coverage. We demonstrated this capability in Perth by switching our Apple phones to Flight Mode, activating wi-fi, and connecting each phone to a 500mW PTT Mesh radio, which in turn was remotely connected to a vehicle with a 2W Mesh radio, and satellite connectivity for network access. We made Face Time calls to prove the concept.
