World’s smallest IP Mesh radio now shipping in 4.9GHz frequency
Sovereign Systems is delighted to advise that the world’s smallest, truly hand-held, IP Mesh radio is now available in 4.9GHz frequency band. This addition compliments the UHF, L Band, and S Band variants already available.
This next delivery of ten PTT IP Mesh radios is destined for First Responders in Australia, via our partners Wireless Innovation (WI) in Brisbane. Part of an initial order by WI for 100 IP Mesh radios, the design of which was influenced by Graham Tait, Operational Communications Systems Officer at Fire & Rescue New South Wales, the PTT IP Mesh radios are a game changer in the world of communications for First Responders. When we asked for Graham’s input at the design phase, he said he needed “a truly hand-held radio, not one of those big metal bricks, that would deliver PTT voice and broadband IP data over a secure, long range network, ensuring connectivity in challenging Non-Line-Of-Sight conditions”.
Fire & Rescue services encounter challenging RF environments in tunnels, and inside buildings, in basements, car parks etc. Even using the latest Sonim rugged cellphone, the device is only as good as the available network. First Responders use special mobile Apps to communicate and the Ace6 IP Mesh radios are designed to be used to backhaul in-tunnel communications, providing critical communications capability in physically hazardous environments.
When your Sonim cellphone loses cellular coverage, the PTT Mesh radio, with Wi-Fi access allows it to maintain comms back to the Command Vehicle and beyond, with SATCOM/LMR interoperability.
Providing more than 60 radios operating on a single spot frequency, the IP Mesh network offers excellent usage of precious RF spectrum, and fantastic penetration in multi-path environments such as tunnels. With each radio having an integral Wi-Fi access point, Bluetooth comms, GPS, H.265 encoding, and multiple, programmable on-board waveforms, the Ace6 PTT IP Mesh is the future of mobile IP communications.
